Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 4, 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how MyJobTrack ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the MyJobTrack mobile application ("App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our User Agreement, which governs your use of the App.

1. Our Privacy Approach

MyJobTrack is designed with privacy as a core principle. The App:

  • Stores all data locally on your device by default
  • Does not operate any proprietary servers, backends, or databases
  • Does not transmit your data to any third-party service
  • Does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs
  • Does not display advertisements in any tier
  • Does not create user accounts or require sign-in
  • Does not use artificial intelligence, machine learning, or automated decision-making
  • Uses only Apple-native frameworks — no third-party dependencies

We have no ability to access, view, or retrieve your data unless you enable iCloud sync, in which case your data is stored in Apple's iCloud/CloudKit infrastructure (not on servers we operate).

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

All data in the App is voluntarily entered by you. The App does not automatically collect, scrape, or harvest information. You may choose to enter:

Job Application Data

  • Company name and role title (required)
  • Application status, priority, and source
  • Location (text entry, not GPS) and work mode
  • Job URL, applied date, application deadline
  • Notes, tags, research notes, interview preparation notes
  • Resume version and cover letter version identifiers
  • Salary range expectations and currency preference

Interview Data

  • Interview title, date, time, duration, and end date
  • Interview location (text entry, not GPS) or meeting link
  • Interviewer names and notes

Contact Data (Recruiter/Hiring Manager)

  • Name, role/title, email, phone number
  • LinkedIn URL and notes
  • Interaction history (type, date, notes)
  • Last contacted date

Compensation Data

  • Base salary, bonus, stock value, sign-on bonus, and currency

Personal Financial Data (optional)

  • Monthly expenses and current savings (for personal financial runway calculation)

Attached Documents

  • File names and types (resume, cover letter, portfolio, code challenge, other)
  • File bookmark references (pointers to files stored on your device or in your iCloud Drive)
  • Custom attachment type names

Next Actions and Checklists

  • Action type, due date, notes, completion status
  • Optional recurrence interval (user-set only)

Settings and Preferences

  • Default currency, weekly application goal
  • Notification preferences (enable/disable, timing, categories)
  • Theme and appearance mode selection
  • iCloud sync preference
  • Compact mode and salary display preferences

2.2 Information Imported from Device Contacts

If you choose to use the "Import from Contacts" feature, the App accesses your iPhone's Contacts book via Apple's ContactsUI framework. Specifically:

  • The system contact picker is presented, and only the single contact you select is accessed
  • The App does not read, scan, index, or access your full address book
  • Only the following fields are imported: name, email address, phone number, and job title
  • Imported data is stored within the App as part of your application data
  • No contact data is transmitted off your device or to any external server

You can revoke Contacts access at any time in your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Contacts.

2.3 Information from URLs

When you paste a job listing URL or share one via the Share Extension, the App parses the URL string locally on your device to extract job details (company name, role title, location). This parsing is done entirely offline using string pattern matching. The App does not:

  • Make network requests to fetch or scrape the URL content
  • Access any third-party API
  • Log in to any service on your behalf
  • Systematically collect data from any website

2.4 Automatically Generated Data

The App automatically generates and stores the following data locally:

  • Status history: Timestamps of each status change for your applications
  • Notification history: Records of local notifications sent by the App
  • Spotlight index entries: Company names and role titles indexed in Apple's on-device CoreSpotlight for system search
  • Computed analytics: Response rates, pipeline speed, weekly trends, and source breakdowns calculated from your application data

2.5 Information We Do NOT Collect

The App does not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or personal identity (no accounts)
  • GPS location, IP address, or device location
  • Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or fingerprints
  • Browsing history, app usage analytics, or behavioral data
  • Health, biometric, or genetic data
  • Payment information (handled entirely by Apple)
  • Cookies, web beacons, or tracking pixels
  • Social media data or social graph information
  • Crash reports or diagnostic data (we do not use crash reporting services)

3. How Your Data Is Stored

3.1 Local Storage (Default)

By default, all App data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework (built on SQLite). This data resides entirely on your device and is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, device encryption).

3.2 iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud sync in the App's settings or during onboarding:

  • Your App data is stored in and synchronized through Apple's iCloud/CloudKit service
  • Data is synced across your Apple devices signed in with the same Apple ID
  • iCloud sync is governed by Apple's iCloud Terms of Service and Apple's Privacy Policy
  • We do not have access to your iCloud data — Apple manages the infrastructure
  • You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the App's settings

For Apple's iCloud privacy practices, see Apple's Privacy Policy.

3.3 File Attachments

Documents you attach (resumes, cover letters, etc.) are stored as file bookmark references — the App stores a pointer to the file on your device or in your iCloud Drive, not a copy. The original file remains under your control. We do not upload, copy, or transmit your attached documents to any server.

3.4 App Group Storage

The App uses an App Group container to share limited data between:

  • The main App and the Home Screen Widget (summary counts: overdue actions, upcoming interviews, total applications)
  • The main App and the Share Extension (a single shared job URL)

This data remains on your device and is not transmitted externally.

3.5 UserDefaults

Your settings and preferences (currency, theme, notification settings, appearance mode, onboarding completion) are stored in UserDefaults on your device. This data is not transmitted externally.

4. How Your Data Is Used

Your data is used solely to provide the App's functionality:

  • Display and manage job applications
  • Track interview schedules and sync calendar events
  • Manage recruiter/hiring manager contacts and interaction history
  • Generate email draft templates (using company name, role title, contact name)
  • Calculate personal analytics and insights
  • Provide daily action timeline (next actions, deadlines, stale applications)
  • Suggest contacts to follow up with
  • Calculate financial runway from user-entered expenses and savings
  • Display compensation comparisons across applications
  • Schedule local notifications (interview reminders, follow-ups, daily summaries)
  • Enable system search via CoreSpotlight
  • Display Home Screen widget summary
  • Import from Share Extension
  • Export data to CSV
  • Sync across devices via iCloud/CloudKit (if enabled)

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, user profiling, behavioral tracking, sale or rental to third parties, training AI models, or any purpose other than providing the App's functionality.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

5.1 We Do Not Share Your Data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal data with any third party.

5.2 Apple

If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in Apple's CloudKit infrastructure, subject to Apple's privacy practices. If you purchase a Premium subscription, Apple processes your payment and provides us only with anonymized transaction confirmation (we do not receive your payment card details, billing address, or Apple ID).

5.3 Data Export

You may choose to export your application data as a CSV file using the App's export feature. Once exported, the file is under your control and outside the scope of this Privacy Policy.

5.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request. However, given that we do not have access to your data (it is stored on your device or in your iCloud account), we have extremely limited ability to respond to such requests.

6. Device Permissions

The App may request the following device permissions. All are optional, and the App functions without them (with reduced functionality):

  • Notifications: Daily summaries, interview reminders, follow-up reminders — scheduled locally on-device
  • Calendar (EventKit): Create/update/remove interview events — only interview events created by the App; your other calendar data is not read
  • Contacts (ContactsUI): Import a single contact's details — only the specific contact you select via the system picker

The App does not request access to: Camera, Microphone, Location, Photos, Health, Bluetooth, Local Network, or App Tracking Transparency.

You can review and revoke any granted permission at any time in your device's Settings.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

7.1 Retention

Your data remains in the App for as long as you keep it there. We do not impose automatic expiration or deletion of your data. Since we do not have access to your data, we cannot delete it remotely.

7.2 Deletion

You can delete your data at any time through:

  • Individual deletion: Delete specific applications, contacts, interviews, next actions, attachments, or compensation records within the App
  • Reset All Data: Use the "Reset All Data" option in Settings to permanently delete all App data from your device
  • Delete the App: Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data
  • iCloud data: If iCloud sync is enabled, disabling sync or deleting iCloud data through Apple's iCloud settings will remove the synced copy

Once deleted, data cannot be recovered by us (we never had access to it).

7.3 Spotlight Index

CoreSpotlight index entries are removed when you delete the App or the corresponding application data.

8. Data Security

8.1 On-Device Security

Your data is protected by Apple's device-level encryption (Data Protection), your device passcode/Face ID/Touch ID, Apple's app sandboxing, and SwiftData/SQLite encryption at rest.

8.2 iCloud Security

If iCloud sync is enabled, data in transit and at rest is protected by Apple's iCloud security infrastructure, including encryption. See Apple's iCloud Security Overview.

8.3 Our Role

Since we do not operate servers or have access to your data, the security of your data depends on your device security settings, your Apple ID security (if iCloud sync is enabled), and your physical device security. We cannot guarantee the security of your data against all risks.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under 17 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 17. The App does not include any content, features, or mechanisms designed to attract or engage children.

10. International Users

The App is available for download worldwide through the Apple App Store. Since all data is stored on your device (or optionally in your iCloud account managed by Apple), no cross-border data transfer occurs through our systems.

10.1 European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland: we act as the data controller for the purposes of the GDPR or UK GDPR, to the extent any personal data processing occurs. In practice, all data is stored locally on your device or in Apple's iCloud infrastructure — we do not process your personal data on our own systems. Legal basis: your consent and legitimate interest. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and objection — all exercisable directly through the App.

10.2 California (USA)

If you are a California resident: we do not sell or share your personal information. You can exercise all CCPA/CPRA rights directly through the App. We do not discriminate against users who exercise their privacy rights.

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The App may display job listing URLs that you have entered. Tapping on these URLs opens them in your device's web browser. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites. The App does not embed third-party SDKs, analytics tools, advertising frameworks, or social media integrations.

12. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

Premium subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only confirmation that a valid subscription exists, transaction identifiers, and subscription status. We do not receive your payment method details, billing address, or Apple ID. Apple's handling of payment data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy and, where practicable, provide notice through the App. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
